My Rwanda Volunteer Assignment – A Business Planning Seminar

By Jim Herne, April 2020

As someone who has spent a career in international development, and who has worked for two Farmer-To-Farmer (F2F) implementing organizations (ACDI/VOCA & Land O’Lakes), I am very familiar with the USAID F2F program and with the type of assignments these volunteers usually take on. After retiring in 2016 it seemed that volunteering for some F2F assignments myself would be a good way for me to continue to apply my knowledge & experience and to have a positive impact on the lives of farmers & entrepreneurs in less developed countries. My Rwanda assignment took place in November 2019 and my job was to provide a technical training seminar on Business Planning & Cooperative Principles for 20 professional staff from the USAID Hinga Weze project.
