On October 28, 2020, the inaugural cohort of the National Peace Corps Association Emergency Response Network began training as contact tracers for Seattle and King County, Washington. These Returned Peace Corps Volunteers were welcomed with words of encouragement and advice by Dr. Peter Kilmarx (RPCV Zaire/Congo) who serves as Deputy Director of the Fogarty International Center for the National Institutes of Health. They were also sent a greeting of thanks and admiration from Dr. Anthony Fauci, director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases with the National Institutes of Health.
